Here’s a simple problem: “How do you make an LED turn on when it gets dark?” You might call it the “nightlight problem,” but the same sort of question comes up in a lot of familiar situations– emergency lights, street lights, silly computer keyboard backlights, and the list goes on.

Bill Mehess has invented a system in which a clock pendulum mechanism swings magnets into coils, allegedly generating enough electricity to recharge the clock spring as well as power other devices.

Several years ago I purchased a couple of Mini Wind Turbines from online. They were basically nothing more then a DC  motor with some plastic blades attached. As simple as it was this tiny wind turbine would easily charge a AA battery or two in any kind of wind.
